On Thursday we saw a couple different memorials close to our apartments in the Teirgarden. We spent most of the morning at the memorial for the murder Jews of Europe. It is thousands of concert blocks in all different heights. The small museum they have under the memorial was also very well done. At one point you could read small notes or last letters people were writing to family. After that memorial we walked though the Teirgarden and stop that the house of cultures. The build looks like it belongs in the Jetson's cartoon. Inside they were playing films from around the worlds. Afterwards we headed to the Victory Column in the middle of the garden. Along the way we found a fox just walking down the middle of the road like it was a every day thing for him. The Column itself was huge. It had been moved from its first spot to were it is now but it still faces west in symbolic to Germany's defeat over the French.
Friday we took a day trip over to Postdam. We had to get up really early to be able to make a bus that took us to to the Einstein Tower. It was amazing to be able to see somewhere he once work. Though the tower isn't used anymore there are other observatories around it that are being used. After the tower we saw more churches and after lunch headed to the Sanssouci gardens. They have been my favorite part so far. The gardens held the summer palaces of the Prussian kings and are huge. There are three big palaces in the gardens, along with small ones, many other building and a church( which was also my favorite so far on the trip). All the palaces are set up on huge hills. We went inside the Sanssouci palace and the rooms were amazing. There were painting all over the walls, gold leafing and trim and lots of other things. Some of us then went to the Peace church which was almost like a monastery. It was set next to a small lake and had big open outdoor walkways. We also got to see inside the crypt were one of the kings and the queen were buried.
